I nearly finished this in 2021, but it was just so meh it hung at 90 percent for several days.
The author knows his stuff about writing, armour and medieval history..
But this really didn't translate into an interesting story for me.
I cant even explain how fed up I got with descriptions of armour. It must cover at least a quarter of the book., so that's about 150 pages... no one needs that
The magic system is flawed. Some characters are insanely overpowered for the first book of a series. The magic ruins so many elements of the story, because it can completely revoke parts of the book.
Then there is roughly 25 pov.. thats too many. And so many of them, add no value. I dont need 4 povs for the same action sequence.
Shame to start a book with a 2 star. Worst still, I brought book 2 and 3 before I read book 1.
