The Shadow Sister by Lucinda Riley

2.0

I always enjoy the historical portion of the book. Flora’s story was heartbreaking, she sacrificed so much for a spoiled sister.

Star’s story is one of my least favorite in the series. I appreciate the fact that Star needed independence, however, the way Cece was treated was heartless and outright mean.

In spite of Star’s intelligence, the author decided to waste her time working in a bookshop and as a part-time nanny! She was accepted at Oxford, why not give her another opportunity to attend and figure out a career path for her life.

I was disturbed that Star was romantically paired with a creepy socially aloof jerk. He basically abandoned his son and financially destroyed his family. There is not one likable quality about Mouse. Star deserved better!

I enjoyed Star’s sweet reunion with her mother and their relationship development. I wish Star would have traveled to the US to meet her siblings and do some soul searching instead of the author’s insistence on a cheap romance.
