A STUNNING example of why I loved Animorphs so much as a kid. Read this in one sitting with the Animorphs Aloud podcast, read by Rena Gail, who did a spectacular job as always with the voices and sound effects.

This story takes us into the mind of not just Jake, but the Yeerk that used to control Jake's brother Tom. We witness the internal devastation of Tom's loss of hope over time as the Yeerk took over his life. I was genuinely brought to tears in the parts where Jake had to confront his brother's grief, desperation, and desolation under the Yeerk enslavement.

This one was truly devastating and I continue to be amazed at the deep critique of pacifism that this series presents us with.
