The First Day of Spring by Nancy Tucker

5.0

When I read the synopsis of this book I immediately thought of the case of the child killer, Mary Bell. I love fiction books based on, or inspired by, true crime, so I decided to read it. Wow-- it was so much more than I thought it would be! I've never read a book with such an authentic child's voice, and this was no easy child to write. This could have been tripe, could have been sensational, but was not at all. Be prepared for a difficult, emotional experience. Despite the heart wrenching story, I loved it for its truth and even its hope at the end.
