Celia, a Slave by Melton A. McLaurin

1.0

This was not good. I picked this up thinking that, as a white woman, i could learn something. Instead what “learned” was a bunch of irrelevant information about how much white slave owners were worth, how old they were, how much land they had, & how many kids they fathered. Celia’s story is an afterthought, barely mentioned through pages and pages of very regionally specific historical nonsense. This could have been so much better if there was even a drop of emotion for Celia. I understand this is historical non fiction but come on, this was dry & dusty and not at all educational or captivating. 0/10. Do not waste your time.
