Go as a River by Shelley Read

2.0

I've seen folks compare this book to Where the Crawdads Sing, but I don't think this one is nearly as good. The writing was okay and I liked Victoria as a narrator well enough, but I'd prefer for more dialogue rather than just description. And I hate reading about pregnancies and motherhood, so there's that. Also, I find it problematic how the author writes about Native Americans: there's slurs and poor representation. The Native character is super one dimensional and then he gets brutally killed very early on, basically only serving as a plot device and as a trigger for a white woman's character development.
