I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell by Tucker Max

3.0

If you want a book that doesn’t require you to think, then this is your book. If you want a series of ridiculous stories that don’t require you to tap into your moral compass, then this is your book. This book is hilarious. As a woman of color who has occupied many white spaces and has had to cast aside her safety and comfort to make nice with white folks and participate in their at times dangerous and offensive humor, you may enjoy this book. I read this when I was like 23. I was naive to the world and didn’t apply the nuances that make or break these sorts of situations. At almost 36, this book is ridiculously funny. It’s also wildly inappropriate and coddles the privileged experiences of white men who at the time never heard the word accountability a day in their lives. If you are looking for a mindlessly funny read… go for it. If you want substance….this won’t be for you.
