The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

4.0

Such a hard book to review. On one hand I really love so much of the writing (as you can see from the many highlights I’ve selected). The story is a really interesting one. On the other hand I feel like I read the book twice - once while it was happening and then once as a memoir of one of the characters - which was used to explain all of the loose ends and reveal the full story. I took my time reading it too, which probably reflects the fact that I wasn’t 100% committed. I enjoyed the fact that it was set in Barcelona which I have visited many times. This review is as disjointed as my feelings about the book are.
