How You Get The Girl by Anita Kelly
2.5
Really not much of a sports romance other than as an excuse for the initial meeting, and sadly we never get to know much of the team Julie and Elle coach or get to see any of their games. Instead, this book takes on a much more "slice of life" feel, with a focus on holiday and family dynamics that feels more like a daily account of their lives. It also features heavy cameos from Ben and London, the MCs from the previous novels in this series, with a strong focus on concluding or moving forward those relationships, which made the book feel like somewhat of an extended epilogue.
Because of all that, I felt the chemistry between Julie and Elle was lost, and didn't really feel a connection to them as a couple, or really to Elle as a character (Julie appeared a lot more). Without a larger overarching plot, there's also very little moving the plot along, which isn't great for me as a plot-driven reader. There's some nice character work with Julie's questioning of her identity and general trying to understand her place in life.
