For years there has been a distinction of madonna vs. whore when classifying women. As society progresses these labels have been rebranded but still the distinction remains. The madonnas are those who choose to chase after a fairytale themed life while the whores have been upgraded to frigid career loving women who demands to “have it all” in life.
This book is a great exploration of the career woman archetype that has been often demonized and punished for chasing after their ambition. Sure it’s a romcom but above all this is Nora’s story and every page explains how she turned out to be a “frigid bitch” but also elaborates why there’s nothing wrong with that and how it’s still possible for her to negotiate a happy ending up for her terms.
This is a really cool romcom book that I don’t even want to clump it to the other romance books that just closely follows the pattern found in this genre. It would be wrong to define this by tropes or tags as I know the whole point of the book is to breakaway from the labels imposed to easily understand complicated relationships/ situations.
