Pan: From Lieutenant Thomas Glahn's Papers, by Knut Hamsun

1.0

Why is it that the self-obsessed person desires only possession of the other? Turned totally inwards, the whole world becomes their interiority, but an interiority that defies their desires. If they cannot dominate the world, they mutilate it, striking out at everyone through themselves, unto the dehumanisation of both self and other. It's pathetic.

Walden for emotionally-stunted teens trapped in adult-sized bodies.
