Fear the Flames by Olivia Rose Darling

Did not finish book. Stopped at 45%.
This book had a lot potential. Unfortunately, I think the author could have found a better balance between world building/story telling and the romance between Cayden (C) and Elowen (E). I had a hard time being convinced that she was the strong willed and determined princess she claimed to be when she spent weeks preoccupied with writing letters to a dude who was at a base camp like 30 min away, obsessing over him? Girl, what about the dragons you claim to so dearly miss? The dialogue was hard to get through at times and in no way do I think Cayden should be allowed to use the word “angel” as much as he did. The “pet name” lost its effect very quickly for me. Didn’t like how poorly the other characters were written, such as Ryder or E’s close friend/brother. I would have been interested to see how the big battle and dragon bond played out, but I could not keep going.

Also how is it that Cayden commands an army which he claims the king could care less about? Anyone take war strategies 101? I seriously doubt that would happen in any world, fictional or not.
