I Am a Girl from Africa by Elizabeth Nyamayaro

4.0

This book had me enthralled from the beginning. I loved the proverbs and the way they repeated the words. I loved how she worked to get back to Africa to do something. I learned so much like for river blindness and what communities were doing to help.

The problem was that it did repeat and I was not sure about the #heforshe movement or just the way it was done in the book. I don't even remember; I do think I remember Emma Watson talking to the UN, but I had no idea really what it was about. For me, I think the ending parts where she goes back into the communities to see what they were doing to help the campaign were better than just dumping this very general thing on the UN and then asking countries already doing something to do more.

But I definitely enjoyed this book and it made me want to do more and that's the point of a good memoir book.
