The Harbor by Katrine Engberg

3.0

This is the third of the Korner and Werner books which has been published in English and I hope the translators are working on more because I feel like I'm missing out. Fifteen year old Oscar has gone missing, leaving a note behind which could be a suicide note. Meanwhile, the body of one of Oscar's teachers turns up in an incineration plant. One of the people who first saw the teacher's body is the father of Oscar's best friend, Iben - and he seems very nervous about something. As the investigation into Oscar's disappearance proceeds, another of his teacher's gets hit by a train - which may be an accident. Korner's friend, Esther de Laurenti, makes an appearance in this book - and her interest in death masks and anthropology and a book she wants to write are helpful in providing clues to the police. Oscar's parents run an art gallery and auction house that was involved in a scandal a few years ago and Jeppe and Anette are not sure if his disappearance could be related to these events. In that case, the couple received threatening letters. This is definitely one of those times when I wish GoodReads had 1/2 star ratings as I would give this book 3 1/2 stars ... very close to four stars.
