Emma Chase writes a fantastic male perspective. Jake felt real and palpable, and I’m claiming him, people. I call dibs! I got so into this book that when I glanced down on my kindle to see what percentage I was at, I was already at 50%. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t paused for air in that entire time–I didn’t want to.

Jake Becker is a no-nonsense kind of man. He likes what he likes, he has no qualms being who he is, and he has his life planned out. This big shot defense attorney and reformed Bad Boy has worked himself right up to the top of his game, and he’s on fire. His plans involve unattached relationships and finding that pleasure wherever and as often as possible–and they definitely don’t involve kids or marriage. A series of events begin happening to him that slowly, and sweetly, show him what he’s missing without being forthright about it. Soon, the Bachelor Jake is turning into the Reliable-Family-Man Jake.

Chelsea’s situation and her soft, caring demeanor worm their way slowly into his heart, and your heart begins to melt watching this man have his heart filled. Jake is funny, sexy, and the kind of man any woman can fall deeply for. The way this man is with those kids, I mean…stab me in the heart.

It was beautiful the way Ms. Chase had him becoming something he never wanted without even realizing he was doing it. His heart was bursting with love and compassion when he thought it was a barren parcel of land. And those kids? Oh my gosh, I wanted to know these kids. Each one was such a distinct personality, and it was comical. They and Jake were a perfect combination. And Jake has more layers than he appears to, and peeling those back was exciting. Superb writing, and a sexy, beautiful story–you’ll devour it completely in one sitting.
