Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

This book is amazing. Everyone just feels so real, and if it weren’t for the fact that it obviously states on the cover that it’s a novel, you would think it really is just a book of interviews. They’re all so human, and sure, everyone is a little bit unlikeable, but that’s why they feel real. At every mention of their music, I wanted to find Aurora and the other albums mentioned in the book and listen to them for myself. I found myself wishing that Daisy Jones was real, because she was just so interesting. I want to know so much about these fictional people. And I’ve gotta say, I have never read a book that made me feel that way. I think it’ll end up as one of my favourite books of all time. This story is so much more than a story of this band from the 70s. It’s an exploration of people and humanity and trust and love. A reminder that people can seem okay when they aren’t, that we reflect on things differently than others. For me, it made me realize that, even though this is fictional, it portrayed something true. So this book was amazing, and I’m so happy that I read it.
