So, I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. I don't typically read dark romances, as they are well... dark. But this one was pretty good. This book has a lot of themes that might make most people at the very least uncomfortable. I don't typically mention Trigger Warnings, but this one needs one. So, Trigger warnings for pretty much everything. Hence the word, "dark" I used earlier.

The romance though is not one that I would call unhealthy though. Micheal, the love interest, while a dick and does to things to hurt her, it's not physical harm. Not that it exactly makes it better. He's the type of stoic character that was taught that love is a weakness and tries to stifle emotion all the time. More of that macho BS that needs to just stop.

For a while there, I wasn't sure how they were going to end up together. And based on this genre, I knew they were, that's how it always goes. I had a feeling early on that Damon was a touch more unhinged than the rest of them. And my heart kind of broke for Kai, after hearing what he went through, and how he kind of just shut down.

This is a book that is not for everybody, and while I hate most contemporary romance for the cliche garbage, this kind of plot is just out of the box enough that I don't have to imagine if there are real people who would do anything like this. For me, this just a different kind of fantasy. One where people to and would behave the way some of the characters in this book do.

I am really looking forward to reading Kai's POV book.
