As I have already read the Chestnut Spring series, I wanted to go back to where it all began, the Gold Rush Ranch series.
Vaughn and Billie were a delight to read about. The banter and sassiness from Billie was refreshing and reminds me of Willa in Heartless (another book from Elsie Silver). I love the character development in this book as well as all the side characters in the story. Having read most of the books written by Elsie Silver, I am impressed with the different approaches she takes for each story.
Tropes:
-boss/employee
-forced proximity
-grumpy x sunshine
-1.5🌶️
As Elsie Silver has obviously been improving as she writes more books I’m giving this book a 3.5. That being said, if you love her books and want to read more into the cowboy world she has created, it is worth reading and I am happy that I did. I just personally prefer the Chestnut Spring series.
