it was okay! i was definitely into the characters for the most part, and i did care what happened to them. the plot was pretty good and had some very interesting ideas which were mostly well executed. i wasn’t all that into it in the beginning (it was boring lowkey) but once it started to pick up a little bit i was a lot more invested in the story. as usual, i don’t really like sad books, so the energy while reading wasn’t my favorite, but it having an emotional affect on me has to give it some points i guess
it felt very 80’s, in that i wasn’t a fan of a lot of the language used as well as the ableism but i guess it comes with the territory. i was picturing stefan like middle aged or older the whole time, so their relationship felt especially weird to me. (even thought i don’t really like that they ended up together anyway. why spend that much time saying you won’t fall in love with him just to randomly do it at the end?)
i definitely see the meatloaf ending even though it wasn’t quite as severe as i thought it might be, it did end kind of abruptly.
tldr i liked the characters and the plot was decent but i was just kind of not that impressed
