Unsettled Ground by Claire Fuller

emotional sad tense

5.0

I read this in a single day, across two sittings and it lingered with me in the hours between, the dread still settled somewhere in the back of my mind even as I was doing other things.

The characterisation is excellent (in especially stark constrast to Babel, the book I read just before this) - no matter how frustrating some of the behaviour in this book is, it all has an internal logic and feels so completely unforced.
