Biomega, Vol. 1 by Tsutomu Nihei
3.0
Another one of the manga's I picked up after suggestion from the owner of the local comic shop. He wasn't sure I would like it, as it was more sci-fi and techno based than what I usually buy, but I wanted to give it a go. I had no idea what the book would be about.
There are zombies (yay) and action (yay), not all that much dialogue, and dark and gritty art.
Usually things I don't mind, but something about this manga didn't sit right with me.
The zombies are interesting, not to mention the reason behind them, but I will be honest and say that I wouldn't have bothered with it if not for Adam suggesting it. And it isn't bad, but something is off.
I think it is the whole point of world-controlling companies trying to end the world. I've never been a big fan of those stories. If it is because I think it might actually happen and don't like it, or if I don't believe it could ever happen, I honestly don't know, but I don't like those stories. At all.
On top of that, the art style was a little too weird for my taste. It kept annoying me how empty all the faces were and how wide set the eyes were.
So, at this point, I'm not sure I'll be reading the rest of the series, or even keeping this book. Time will tell, I guess.
