Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert

2.0

I read this one when i was in high school and then again in uni for a french literature exam. Emma is insufferable and overall a terrible character. Though he incarnates the symbol of his own stupidity, I have to say I sympathize with Charles, poor old Charles. He did not deserve even an ounce of what she did to him. Rodolphe is the worst character ever, he might even surpass Emma. I also do not vibe with Flaubert’s way of writing at all. I get the genius, the irony of Romanticism and all but I’m honestly so glad I’m done with this book forever.
