Stars Above: A Lunar Chronicles Collection by Marissa Meyer

1.0

I know that when people love a series of books, oftentimes, they want more in that world. The question for the author then is to decide if they have something worthwhile more to say. Perhaps Meyer felt that she did, but it's hard to see how this collection is really worth the read.

There's very little that's new in here. "The Little Android" is really the only new material, with the final story filling in some things that happened after the end of Winter. These are things that wouldn't be at all difficult to guess, really, however. The rest of the stories simply expand on details we already knew from the books - how Michelle Benoit came to care for Scarlet and then Cinder, how Wolf came to be the alpha of his pack, how Cinder came to live with the Lins - these are things we didn't really need more detail on.

Of course, big fans of The Lunar Chronicles may be happy to have these things filled in for them, but, for me, there's a real lack of creativity here. Like I said "The Little Android" is the only expansion of the world. It would have been nice if Meyer had done more of that, instead of rehashing old ground.
