The romance was SO SWOONY!!! The physical attraction between characters didn’t feel like it overwhelmed the budding romance, and there was definitely an appreciation between Mara and Gannon for their characters, not just their smexiness.
The side characters were all so well-developed as well! Elsie is my FREAKING FAVOURITE!! And Edgar was such a quiet but strong presence.
I will DEFINITELY be checking out the other books in the series!

While nothing was outrightly gruesome, there was much mention of the above content, (mainly the abuse, cursing, and sexual content) with varying levels of detail. I would consider the violence PG-13 while the cursing and sexual content bump the rating up to R.
