The Book of Lamentations by Rosario Castellanos
5.0
This book is rich. It is full of incredible prose that is a pleasure unto itself. The characters and their relationships to one another are complex. The plot is slow and thick with the complexity of Chiapas state history and the Indigenous people who built the state. This, mixed with a heavy dose of spiritual fervor was a pleasure to read. The processes of the state themselves took on a sacred tone, and the notion of justice was handed down by more than a few gods. I would recommend this to anyone I like.
