Scarred by Emily McIntire

Emily McIntire has crafted another story that delivers everything I seek in a dark romance. This tale is a spin-off of The Lion King, where the primary antagonist Scar becomes the central love interest. However, McIntire's narrative offers deeper plot substance than the original movie, promising new discoveries. The romance is tantalizingly spicy, and the forbidden nature of the love affair was particularly enjoyable.

The story follows Sara, who is initially destined to marry King Michael but becomes entangled in Tristan’s schemes for the kingdom. I found this aspect of the story intriguing—a brooding male love interest leading a clandestine club plotting mutiny, while Sara navigates political games. The historical context adds richness, although it may not appeal to those less fond of historical romances.

For fans of darker historical romances, Scarred is a solid choice. Compared to Hooked (Emily’s other book), I found Scarred slightly less intense in its steamy scenes. Approaching the book with this expectation might enhance your experience.
