This was such a surprise. What surprised and impressed me most was the fact that this book had a little bit of everything in it - romance, mystery, drama, thriller, gothic, bildungsroman - it was a book that could fit any genre. I loved every aspect of it and I think this novel was way ahead of its time. Bronte's writing is exquisite - this book is endlessly quotable. I was enraptured by the plot - I foresore nothing. The only reason this isn't five stars is because it did lose me slightly during the three-quarter mark where Jane lives at Moor House. But, the love story of Jane and Mr Rochester, the secrets and mystery at Thornfied Hall, are not soon to be forgotten. I am now itching to read more of Bronte's work.
