Drawing Lessons by Patricia Sands

4.0

I love getting immersed in Patricia Sands' books. In this one she takes us back to the south of France, the Provence region specifically, where Vincent Van Gogh created some of his most iconic paintings. She has created a cast of characters that will come alive for you. In the meantime, you are learning so much about the countryside and history of the Arles area in particular. While you're reading about the beauty of the region, the extraordinary horses, the cuisine, and medieval towns, you will feel as if you are on a gorgeous tour of what is a very special part of Europe. Ms. Sands knows this area of France very well, and you can tell she loves to share her knowledge with her readers. Having been to Italy, I recognize some of the culture and customs she writes about. It really makes me want to go back there. The next best thing until I can get all that arranged is to read her books and be transported. And I will know just what I want to see when I do go because she has brought this legendary part of France alive for me.
