Lights Out: Pride, Delusion, and the Fall of General Electric by Ted Mann, Thomas Gryta

3.0

While the book is generally well written, there are large swaths I could barely get through describing all sorts of details of accounting strategies used to keep the company valuation artificially high. I did get through it but it just reaffirmed that I still don't have an accounting background and should probably avoid ever getting one.

On the other hand, there were parts that were genuinely interesting such as the interpersonal dynamics and drama around the succession of CEOs at GE.

Overall I'm happy I've finished the book but would not recommend for anyone else to get through. Unless you're really into the details of how a huge company is run financially. After all, both the authors are Wall Street Journal reporters.
