The Princetta by Anne-Laure Bondoux

5.0

This was superb-- heartbreaking, but it felt believably so.
A few high points--the archipelago is one of the few 'otherworldly' locations in fiction which actually felt otherworldly. There are clearly rules, but they are not necessarily just, nor unjust. And I like that we never really understand what Zeph's test was. I also really like the revelation of who the main villain is-- (it happens early on, but it really did come as a complete surprise)
