Ten Count, Volume 2 by Rihito Takarai

5.0

!!!This review is for the whole series!!!!

Is it toxic? Yes. Do I love it? Also yes. Ten Count is one of those series I've read 10 years ago and I remember just the very basic plot but I know I love it. Collecting the books was a challenge (vol 4 and vol 6 weren't available anywhere for a long time) and it took me more than a year to finally make myself read it. And Oh boy, I wasn't ready for it.

Maybe my 14-year-old brain couldn't grasp the toxicity of this series and loved it so much. But now I understand it. How sick and manipulative it is, the amount of very questionable sex scenes (go on, convince me most of them weren't rape). Yet I still love the story, the whole idea behind the initial shock of those scenes. I felt very sad for both boys at their backstories and I'm glad they found a way to each other. We don't always need someone to save us. Sometimes we just need someone to destroy us even more and embrace the mess.
