Frightmares by Eva V. Gibson

3.0

There's no waking up from this frightmare...

Dave is working at Frightmares, a haunted house attraction that is falling apart at the seams. Thankfully, it's the last summer before college, and he will be glad to leave Frightmares in the dust. On a particularly disastrous night, one of Dave's coworkers is at their breaking point, and quits on the spot. Dave covers their set, and is shaken to his core when he discovers an actual corpse hidden among the props. Dave goes to find help, but when he returns to the scene, the body has disappeared without a trace.
I was very excited to read this book, but unfortunately it was not quite what I was expecting. I loved the premise of the story, and the book was interesting and thrilling in the beginning. The book began to lose steam early on and didn't pick up again for me until close to the end. I loved the ending and it had me on the edge of my seat. I liked this audiobook for the most part, and the narrator was great at portraying Dave's quirks and emotions. I look forward to giving this author another try.
