I read this book as a read along although I had intended to read it for many years. The story of Janie and her life in Florida, with her grandmother and three husbands, to Eatonville and the Everglades, is beautifully written and highly readable, but also difficult to read in that even though it was 1937 some things have not changed.  The prose was beautiful and her use of metaphor was amazing.
