I honestly don't have much to say except that this was a pretty fun and quick read. When I first got this, I was told that it was a Jane Eyre retelling, and tbh, other than similar character names and backgrounds, and one little twist, I didn't see anything else. But it didn't take away from the story imo. What I loved the most was actually the writing details, the way language evolved through the book, how the characters thought and spoke over time, etc. And obviously, some plot twists I probably should've seen coming but didn't because I was so focused on other details and thinking I had it all figured out 😂.

My only problem with mysteries is that sometimes they're so fast that the ending usually feels rushed and incomplete/unsatisfying which I felt a little of here.

But overall, a great mystery to end summer as spooky season approaches 👻.
