Daily Life of the Ancient Greeks by Robert Garland

informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

4.0

Garland’s book on life in Ancient Greece contains all of the information there is to know about the subject from education to leisure. It describes the research limitations (based on time periods, geography and demographics) but goes into as much detail as possible within the realms it can go.

Garland writes in a concise, informational manner that will keep anyone fascinated in this subject engaged. I found the overviews at the end of each topic especially useful to help me digest the information. This book is truly a treasure trove of information for anyone researching this period. I recommend reading it alongside genuine Greek literature to get a full view of what life was like.
