So the idea of the story was very interesting. I did enjoy the magic and the world (although this isn’t explored very deeply). It was an easy read and enjoyable enough. What I didn’t like about it was the characters, which is a pity because they really did have potential. They felt very 2D cardboard people, I just could really bring myself to care about them. Also, the side characters were just non-existent, they were there to just fill up the space so that we had more than just two characters and the villain. I think that since this is a stand-alone novel (is it really? Kind of felt like it), there was a lot lacking. Can’t say I totally hated it though, it was an okay read.
