Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

4.0

Second Read: You can really tell that SJM’s writing has developed so much between Throne of Glass and Queen of Shadows - however she still uses “feline” as an adjective far too much for my liking. This story was great, but a lot of it was building the rest of series, so I did find it a bit boring at times - probably could have all been fit into 450 pages rather than 650. There are a good few chapters that has me stressed and teary though. Not my favourite, but it is definitely enjoyable. 4 stars.

First Read: I wanted to like this book but at times I really struggled to read it. However, from about page 450 onwards I couldn’t stop reading. I enjoyed this book more than the third one (Heir of Fire), however the first novel (Throne of Glass) is still my favourite. I just felt as though a lot of this story was building and building and it kind of dragged a bit. Now that this story arch is over, I’m excited to see where the next one takes us.
