Ruined for me a bit by studying it, but the first time I read it I could not put it down. The main character is awful and does horrible things to women, but the discussion around the oppression and prejudice that led him to that state is fascinating. Takes place over only a couple of days and will stay in my mind for a long time.
Graphic: Murder, Racial slurs, Death, Rape, and Racism
Describes in detail the murder of two women, and the rape of one. A focus of the novel is the oppression the main character experiences because he is Black, including racial slurs.
