Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal

4.5

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and loved it. It tells an amazing story of religion, culture, community, and sexuality and how people find a balance of these things in their modern lives. As the title suggests there are erotic stories told in this book but that isn’t what makes the book enthralling. The humor, wit, and personality of all the characters is so captivating that by the end I felt like I could just listen to a whole other book of them talking and gossiping about their community. This books has so much personality and heart that many times I was smiling as I was listening.

This book has the potential of becoming something really significant, allowing readers a different side of a community which doesn’t get portrayed in western pop culture often. I hope the title and the sexual themes don’t turn people off from what is such a fantastic story which should be heard by many.
