Best Man for Hire by Tawna Fenske

3.0

Yeah, so not loving this one as much as the second book which remains my favourite.

The trouble with reading a series one straight after the other is that the similarities begin to jar. Each couple in each book, it seems, has their own hang ups and secrets which mean they feel they are unworthy/must never marry and it gets old fast. Also, when the books are about siblings you start to wonder about the so-called super-parents - how can they have (now) four children each of whom has a serious hang-up and they seem oblivious?

Anyhoo, Grant is Mr Perfect, Mr Boy Scout. Anna is Kelli's friend the wedding planner who specialises in kooky weddings (think nudist or paintball). They run into each other when Grant is running on the beach and Anna mistakes him for the best man at a nudist wedding.

They feel an instant attraction but Anna tells herself she doesn't ever want to get married because she has really bad judgement about men/caused her parents divorce. Grant on the other hand has a deep dark secret that he can't/won't share with anyone which means that deep down he knows he isn't the good guy everyone thinks he is (yawn).

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this book but the characters didn't jump off the page like Mac and Kelli did and this felt like a convenient way to match up two characters we had seen previously.

Ambivalent about reading Schwartz's book.
