From Duke Till Dawn by Eva Leigh

2.0

For me, this authors books are hit or miss. I am not sure The Underground series is for me.
I do love a good redemption story and this is definitely rooted in that premise. You have a heroine from really unfortunate circumstances who learns to lie, cheat, steal, and grift others to survive. She is abandoned at a very young age and has to fight for her life on the streets of London. When an older man takes her under his wing and teaches her how to “swindle”, she finds a measure of safety. However, he abandons her to her own devices and she encounters the hero of the tale.
The Duke met a widow who he fell hard for 2 years ago. He cannot forget her but he must marry because he’s a DUKE. When he is jilted by his would be bride and then he encounters the missing widow from 2 years ago all in one night, it seems as if his world might be changing.
Of course there are revelations of deceit and then danger that requires cooperation. The two begin to see one another in a new light.
Both characters are believable. Some of the circumstances they find themselves in are sexy and harrowing. But there is nothing about either that makes them memorable. This was a good book but I will not re read it and I will not remember it.
