I saw this film at the Palm Springs Film Festival in 2016. It was an incredibly beautiful film and when I learned that it was based on a book, I had to read it. Despite already knowing the plot, I still had raw visceral reactions at many stages of reading it.
The book was so much better than the film, but the film had a great adaptation and kept the best aspects of the book. I loved the ending of the book much more than the movie cause it showedOve's relationship with the kids which made me so happy but simultaneously sad.
For me, a book that makes me sob and feel so many emotions is a great book.
