Wild Sign by Patricia Briggs

3.5

Thank you Orbit and Netgalley for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. This does not change my opinion in anyway.

Wild Sign is already the sixth installment of the Alpha and Omega series, a companion series to Mercy Thompson. I inhaled the first 5 books at the end of last year so I was very excited I was approved for this book.

Wild Sign has a lot of elements that I like in a story. A creepy vibe with a deserted town. No clear answers. Something God like wanting to come above the surface. Having to retrace the steps of the disappeared people.

There is a line to Leah in this story. She will always be Brans bitch wife to me but one that I understand better now. I can always appreciate when we get more deepening of characters and Leah has her importance. And well crafted stories don't just deepen out the heroes.
Having said that, this book still fell partially flat to me because of Anna and Charles. I'm kind of over the endless Anna damsel in distress and Charles the super alpha who is secretly a goody guy. I feel like we just get a lot of rehashes in their interactions with others and that we aren't moving in very deep. However that ending does suggest that the next book will do better on that front.

So all in all I thought Wild Sign was a good installment on the story front but on our main characters it was lacking.
