This collection of short stories is the second book I’ve read from this author. As I read I noticed similar themes from her other novel, which I found interesting and familiar. Even with some similar themes the stories were very different, and some were better than others. Since I read via audiobook I don’t have the names of all the stories I enjoyed, but I was particularly moved by the title story, Five Tuesdays in Winter. I would have enjoyed that being a full length novel. I also enjoyed the story about the boy whose parents left him with babysitters while they were gone for the summer.

There were some devastating lines in some of the stories, particularly one about a pregnancy. And there were some stories I didn’t particularly care for, and others that were shocked me at the end, particularly the one about the German mother and daughter.

Overall a great read!
