It took me about a third of the book to realize this is a spin off series/continuation of another series this author has written, it was never mentioned in the Amazon or Goodreads summary. I was really into the book for a bit and then I noticed the pacing started to feel way off. The “climax” of the book took like 3 pages to be resolved while the whole meeting the family thing took like 10. This does end on a cliffhanger, sort of. Not sure if I want to read the second book. It having about half of the reviews this book has makes it seem like a lot of readers didn’t want to continue on with the story.

Now for a little rant with some spoilers.

Why did Gigi need to go with Pike? They knew each other for maybe a week collectively before DiSantis is brought up and half of that was 15 months ago in Daytona. DiSantis would have no reason to think she’s with Pike. Gigi was actively showing hate towards Pike the first 2 days on the job. And speaking of DiSantis, that whole plot line came out of nowhere, maybe the guy was mentioned in the other series but he just kinda popped up in this book and the only thing he did was move the plot along to get Pike and Gigi together? He had 0 substance. We didn’t even actually get to see this big bad DiSantis before he’s taken care of. And then Gigi’s dad has the audacity to be mad at Pike for putting his daughter in danger when he’s the one that wanted Gigi to go stay with the bikers? Makes no sense. Speaking of the Disciples, Morris says he met Gigi when she was drunk in Daytona but the beginning of the book makes it seem like Pike is sitting alone, there’s no mention of any other people with him. Also, the text that Gigi was so mad about, that made her just up and leave Pike in Daytona, was never brought up? Maybe it will be in the next book but it felt like it was thrown in there to justify why Gigi was mad at Pike which I was so confused about at first before Gigi thought about the text.
