Piece by Piece by Ann Powers, Tori Amos

This is a difficult book for me to rate. On the one hand, this book inspired me like nothing has in a long time. Tori's creative process and the way she approaches the world both fascinated and inspired me. I've been struggling with my own creativity for a long time and reading this book was exactly what I needed right now. My issue, however, lies in the editing and the way this book was put together. I am very glad I read this book, especially considering I am deeply familiar with the music referenced throughout. I don't know that it would have been as impactful if I wasn't. I loved the mythology behind it and I think there is a lot in this book that speaks to Tori's insight and intelligence. I just wish that the book itself had a better flow and organization; it was disjointed and stilted at times. I could have done without the journalist interjections, as well. Overall, though, it was enjoyable for me and I am glad to have finally picked it up.
