4 girls who do not understand how to work together are given rings by a talking dog (who can also turn into a man). These rings give them special powers. The dog wants them to get a stolen sword back (Excalibur).
Illustrations are all in black and white. They are very clear and detailed; it's easy to tell the characters apart, but I think they would benefit from color. The characters are all quite annoying in their own ways: they won't stop picking on the 12-year-old, they don't listen to each other; they fight with each other instead of working as a team...
