Bite Me, I'm Yours by Stacy McKitrick

2.0

By giving this book only two stars, I'm not trying to say it was bad...it just wasn't exciting to me. If you take out the fact that John is a vampire, it's pretty much just a sweet love story of a tortured girl. Which is all well and good, but I want more. Especially considering this is a paranormal vampire romance. Even though it is listed as the second book in a series, I think it can be read as a stand alone because I had no trouble following it.

Sarah has had a rough life for one so young. She finally escaped her abusive ex-husband only to have him stalk her and eventually rape her in her own home. Oh, and of course she's also the target of a serial killer.

John is obviously a vampire but he doesn't want to be one. He doesn't socialize with others if he can help it and never sticks around after their meetings. It's not a life he would have chosen for himself and he's not too thrilled about Sarah wanting it. He's a gentleman at heart and he hates how Sarah's ex has beaten her down so much emotionally that she's always afraid he'll get mad at her for any little thing.

They meet one night at the bar John owns and it's an instant attraction. Though John initially fights wanting a relationship with Sarah, it doesn't last long. And here's where it's all love and roses with them. They go on dates and hang out out and yadda yadda. All sweetness. The only mar to that is Steven always being there and the bad things that keep happening to Sarah. One night she finally finds out what he is and she kind of freaks but not really. I think it's about 16 hours later when they're back together and she accepts him as he is because she can't see her life without him. She even lets him take her blood...and constantly wants to jump him. So she knows now and their relationship continues. Then from the shadows appears the baddie and the reason behind all the danger Sarah has kept being in is made apparent. Not really a crazy twist when you think about it but it works. Barely escaping death at the hands of said baddie, John and Sarah get engaged and plan to be together forever. The how that Sarah can do so seemed...I don't know...silly maybe? I know some way had to be thought up but I don't think I like it much even though I kind of do *shrug*

Oddly enough, the side character, Perry, was more entertaining than John. He was a much more happy go lucky vampire living life to the fullest.

While I didn't particularly enjoy this one a great amount, it was an okay read. And might some day check out the first one because that sounds like it would be better...
