This fictional memoir of a former pickpocket is certainly not what I would usually pick buuuut I really like crime fiction, so I got it and it is really good.
Gary is a very charismatic protagonist who really sells you on the idea that his memoir is worth getting through, and you feel for the guy, and later his... Girlfriend? Friend with benefits? Fellow junkie? Mother of his child?
And, at the same time, there isn't anything big or splendorous abput this memoir, is the rise and fall of an ordinary, albeit very charismatic, pickpocket, which is kinda why I don't vibe with memoirs.
Ngl, I was hoping Gary would go to be this globe-throtting, devonair high-end conman.
