for some reason, all though the subject matter is far from typical cozy fare, this felt a bit like a cozy mystery? the investigator is an outsider who learns a lot throughout the case - sometimes it feels like you're being beat over the head with the author's research a bit. it was interesting to learn about icelandic culture and history throughout the story, but all the characters feel kinda cliche/one-note. overall, not a bad little mystery, but i probably won't read more in the series.
